As their time at Bearden comes to a close, seniors look forward to exciting upcoming events like Senior Celebration and graduation, but before they head off into the world, Prom committee works to give them a proper send off. This year’s Prom will be especially eventful.

This year’s theme will be La Nouvelle Orléans, which features the fun and fancy city of New Orleans, assistant principal Mrs. Anna Graham said.

The event will take place on April 30 at The Standard in downtown Knoxville. It will begin at 8 p.m. and end at midnight.

The prom committee has been working and will be working tirelessly to make this night successful and fun for all who attend.

Last year’s theme, Enchanted Forest, had a more romantic feel, but the goal for this year was to be more elegant and sophisticated, and because of the uniqueness of this year’s venue, the room itself will offer a lot of character.

The night will feature food, music, and dancing, but Mrs. Graham said admission to prom is a privilege not a right, and students must be sure their attendance is up and that their grades look good.

Tickets will go on sale after spring break for seniors and will be available to juniors the week after.

“What appeals to the idea of those type of proms [proms with travel themes] is that it takes people to places they may have never been,” Mrs. Graham said. “So, it kind of makes it more exotic than just a theme, say that is based off of a song.

“We really want it to be an event that even adults would enjoy.”
