Bearden AP Art students to showcase work downtown on Friday

Bearden’s AP Art students will participate in Knoxville’s First Friday art show for the fifth year in a row. The show is a monthly event held by art galleries in the downtown Knoxville area on the first Friday of every month. It is used to promote their galleries and artwork as well as to bring their art to the public.

The AP Art class uses this show as a final for the class, and each student has a different concentration to focus on. Other students, like the ones in AP Photography are allowed to participate as well.

“Presenting your art can be really scary and a lot of people’s concentrations are very personal, so it’s really great that we can all come together to show our support and have the public come in and see what we love to do,” National Art Honors Society Vice President Madison Tenney said.

The First Friday show provides the opportunity for students to show off their art and hard work in a supportive and friendly setting.

The students’ art will be shown at Awaken Coffee (125 Jackson Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37902) on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Awards will be presented at 8:00. Along with the artwork, there will be live music performances from local bands such as The Pinklets, and free food.
