Bearden AP Art students will showcase their pieces at February’s First Friday.

First Friday is held on the first Friday of every month and is an opportunity for Knoxville artists to display their art in local galleries.

Many downtown Knoxville businesses participate in First Friday. Bearden students will be showing their art at Old City Java (109 S Central St, Knoxville, TN 37902). The event will be held on Feb. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Students will be able to communicate with other artists, receive feedback, and even possibly sell their pieces. For photographers, they’ll even have the opportunity to set up photo shoots with those interested.

“We put the whole thing together, from creating the work to setting up and matting out pieces with labels and displaying it in the studio,” AP Art student and senior Naomi Ramos said.

Each student was able to select three pieces of their own to put in the show. Not only does this give students exposure, but they also get to experience a gallery environment.

The AP Art students have been working on their art since the beginning of the school year, and First Friday will allow them to show off their hard work in a comfortable, supportive environment.
