Bearden vocalists to share their talent at annual Coffee House event
April 18, 2019
The Bearden music department holds a “Coffee House” event every year to share their talent and love of music with friends and family.
This year’s event is Thursday at 6 p.m. in the chorus room.
“Coffee House is designed to give an opportunity for students to perform in a setting where they can have a guitar, piano, and accompany themselves or with their small groups of friends doing duets and trios, performing music that they chose,” chorus teacher Mr. Evan Headrick said.
At Coffee House, they provide coffee and snacks in a casual and laid-back environment for the listeners to enjoy while they are watching the performances.
“We will have hopefully the lights dimmed and some comfortable things to sit on,” Mr. Headrick said. “It should be a very relaxed atmosphere.”
Both of Bearden’s a capella groups – “Off the Chain” and “B Natural” – will perform, but individuals and small groups will also perform with guitar accompaniment, piano accompaniment, or even ukulele accompaniment.
“Coffee House is a very chill concert where a capella students perform songs of their choice,” senior Hunter Caldwell said.
There will be a variety of different songs and genres from country to new age pop and many singer/songwriter performances. One of the songs featured in the performance might be “Sucker,” the new song from the recently reunited group the Jonas Brothers.
