Bearden theatre hosting Fall Fling to raise funds for fall production, new equipment
October 18, 2019
Bearden’s theatre program has undertaken a hefty $27,000 show by choosing Crazy for You as its fall musical. The musical requires many elaborate costumes, numerous sets, and more extensive elements.
To fundraise and alleviate some of the costs, the program is hosting its first ever Fall Fling on Saturday evening from 5:30 to 8.
“We are hoping Fall Fling will help us pay for our show and help us to invest in some equipment the theatre department desperately needs,” said Abigail Waldroup, senior and business crew member.
Money raised from the event will go toward costumes, sets, and more for the upcoming musical and theatre department as a whole.
“There will be… [a] Silent Auction with some amazing items, a chili, cornbread, and pie cook-off, along with some fun country line dancing,” said Evelyn Patten, senior and business crew head.
Not only will the event bring in needed money for theatre, it will also give Bearden families and others in the community a chance to come together for a night and help promote Bearden’s theatre program.
“I’m really excited for the community to see our program blossoming and give [people] an opportunity to help support the Bearden High School theatre department,” Waldroup said.
Tickets are $10 each, and children 2 and under get in for free. Tickets are available on Bearden theatre’s website and at the event. Anyone interested in participating in the cook-off competitions can enter on beardentheatre.com, and winners receive prizes and four free tickets to Crazy for You.
