Food trucks coming back to Bearden next week, thanks to efforts of Senior Committee

Food trucks are scheduled to come to Bearden for lunch once again.

The trucks will arrive around 11:15 a.m. on Thursday and will be available until 2 p.m., when the last lunch period officially ends. Senior Committee runs the event to help fundraise for the senior gift.

“We have contacted all the trucks and are very excited for the event this year,” Senior Committee president Cade Standifer said. “The food trucks are one of a few events that the Senior Committee is putting on to raise money for a memorable senior gift.”

The event was a success last year, but Senior Committee and Bearden administration wanted to increase the number of trucks this year to shorten the lines at each truck. This year, two more food trucks will come to Bearden, totaling seven trucks.

Along with this improvement, principal Mrs. Debbie Sayers is currently working to extend each lunch period to allow students time to fully enjoy the food.

Each food truck will have a total of three items off of their menu available for purchase in an effort to accommodate everyone and speed up the wait time.

Students may pay with either cash or card; however, card is encouraged as it may cause the process to be quicker.

This event is officially titled the “Food Trucks at the Dawghouse” fundraiser event.

The food trucks were contacted by Senior Committee faculty sponsor Mrs. Anne Fine, who helped organize the event.

Students can savor a delicious lunch from Penne For Your Thoughts, Big O’s BBQ, CJ’s Tacos, Big Kahuna Wings, or Forks on the Road for their meal, then head over to Kona Ice or Knox Dough for dessert.

They will be parked in the back of the main building on the street in front of the football and baseball fields, just like last year.

“Be on your best behavior, and clean up after yourselves as usual,” Mrs. Fine said. “And have a good time!”
