Bearden’s annual Fall Festival will take place Tuesday night from 5:30 to 7:30 in the staff parking lot.
Tickets will be sold during lunch and at the gate for $5 with a $20 cap on families. SGA has been hard at work planning the event for this year.
Mrs. Autumn Suranofsky has taken on the role of SGA sponsor after longtime sponsors Mr. Cody Martin and Mr. Logan Peterson stepped down from their advisory roles with the organization.
Being a first-time sponsor, Mrs. Suranofsky has relied on the experience and knowledge of student leadership in SGA to plan and run this year’s event. SGA president Abigail Cade, senior class president Reagan Wells, senior class vice president Kate Bosi, along with previous faculty sponsors have provided some of their expertise.
“The planning for Fall Fest has been going smoothly because of our organized planning from last year,” said Izzy Galehouse, who is co-head of SGA’s Fall Festival committee. “Mr. Martin has a binder of Fall Festival details, which has been very helpful for the planning process.
Added Mrs. Suranofsky: “I am just basically there to facilitate, like if they need to order anything or reach out to the staff as a liaison. I just do the things that they aren’t able to do.”
While this year’s Fall Festival will maintain most of the same elements as in years past – such as the police cars, fire trucks, food trucks, and decorated trunks – there will be an added “kiss-a-pig” event and bouncy houses for younger children.
Additionally, BHS clubs will decorate themed trunks for children to trick or treat.
“We expect to see loads of families and students,” Galehouse said.
SGA hopes that as Fall Festival continues to grow, there will continue to be a greater turnout from the community, particularly younger students in elementary school.
“I love to see the younger students interacting with the high school students,” Mrs. Suranofsky said. “As I have told my other classes, it’s a good way to get the younger kids excited about high school and what high school extracurriculars look like.
“It’s a good chance for them to see what is ahead of them.”
