Bearden’s girls soccer team will play for its third consecutive state title Saturday in a 4 p.m. final against Ravenwood at CHI Memorial Stadium in Chattanooga.
The Lady Bulldogs beat Franklin 3-1 on Thursday in a state semi-final with Jayla Blue scoring the opening goal 18 seconds into the match. Seniors Nyla Blue and Alivia Stott scored the other two.
Ravenwood is the No. 22 ranked team in the nation, according to MaxPreps.
The Lady Bulldogs (21-0-1) defeated Houston 2-1 in a state quarterfinal Wednesday on goals from Stott and Jayla Blue.
Houston forward Leah Freeman opened the scoring in the first half, putting the Lady Bulldogs behind for the first time all season. Amongst a massive second-half team effort, Stott equalized around 10 minutes into the second half, and she assisted Jayla Blue’s winner with minutes remaining in regular time.
“I think we realized our season was on the line,” Stott said, “and we had to pick it up and finish the game.”
