Dawgathon is excited to be putting on the second annual Dance Marathon on April 13 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the West Mall.
The event raised more than $5,000 for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital last year.
“It is specific and based on need,” sponsor Mrs. Kelley Davis said. “Everyone has a reason to help Children’s Hospital.”
The Dance Marathon is based on a similar VOLthon event at UT. They have assisted Dawgathon with putting on the event.
Tickets cost $10 per person. The event will include hours of dancing, pieing teachers, a raffle, a bake sale, and provided dinner. All proceeds from these activities will go toward the hospital.
“It’s a community event, so people can bring their family or friends from school,” Dawgathon president Reagan Wells said.
Dawgathon hopes to beat last year’s amount and is hoping to learn from last year’s event to make this one even better. Wells hopes that this tradition of the Dance Marathon will continue for many years to come.
“We have a really large [group of] underclassmen, so I hope that they will want to continue,” Wells said.
Tickets will be available for purchase during lunch, online, and at the door.
