Bearden’s baseball team is gearing up for the new season with the 2025 team led by seven seniors.
Pitcher Evan Cope has signed with Cleveland State, and pitcher Isaiah Whited has signed to play at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
“[The seniors] make it more fun, and they are great at helping people, and they are more mature,” sophomore third baseman Landon Suggs said.
Being such a big team, the team must have a good bond and relationship so the benefits reflect on and off the field.
Senior infielder Sammy Green is new to Bearden, but he has been playing baseball for 15 years. The Bulldogs are returning every starting infielder from 2024 and adding Green to that rotation.
“I love Bearden, the pit, the cookies, and the team,” he said. “For this season, I am most excited to be with and spend time with the guys.”
Bearden opens the season Tuesday at Central at 5:30. The Bulldogs’ first home district game of the season will be against Farragut on March 25.
“I am very excited, for the team and myself, to grow and play, and I think it will be a good season,” Green said.
Because baseball season is intense and long with many games, they have to stay positive, which includes a good bond.
“We have a lot of sophomores this year, and I think it will be fun,” Suggs said.
