Bearden softball has started playing district games, and they’ve set many important goals for this season.
“One of our biggest goals is to beat Farragut and to hopefully make it out of districts,” senior Jacyie Overton said.
The team has participated in more scrimmages this year in order to prepare.
“The scrimmages are helping,” senior Elizabeth Newman said. “We need the practice. I definitely think the spirit is there, and we definitely have more positive attitudes this year.”
Added junior Bailey Hague: “I think we are growing closer and doing better overall.”
The team is excited to get into playing district games and are feeling more prepared especially due to improvements in their facility. Bearden softball’s new field house next to the senior parking lot is complete and ready for the Lady Bulldogs to use during the 2025 season.
“We now have locker rooms so we can actually change, and we have more equipment to use, so I think it’s just gonna be really beneficial to us,” Hague said.
It also benefits the team on rainy days.
“When it’s raining, it’s nice to have one place to hit and one place to field,” Overton said. “It just makes things a lot easier.”
Bearden opened its district schedule with a 14-5 win over Hardin Valley on Tuesday before falling to Maryville 16-1 on Thursday. They’ll play two non-league games before returning to district play on Tuesday at West.
