Bearden freshmen, sophomores, and juniors recently received new models of the Chromebook. The new computers feature several new details that foster a better user experience.
For many students, the outward attributes have highlighted their time using the new technology. The newly-distributed chromebooks offer a sharper display, minimizing student eye strain when working online for long durations.
“The new screens are more clear and vibrant, which can be helpful when doing assignments where I am on my Chromebook for the majority of my time,” junior Maddie Carroll said.
Additionally, the computers include a protective outer casing. The durable layer offers a buffer between the fragile technology and any incident that might occur with its use. For sophomore Jesse Miller, this assurance has made him more relaxed.
“I like the protective case around the Chromebook because I tend to drop it a lot,” Miller said.
Freshman Brady Scott said the visual updates collectively create a better user experience.
“The best part of having the new Chromebooks is the durability or the huge improvement in graphics and processing,” Scott said. “It makes the computer look and feel nicer and more professional.”
Below the surface, the new computers more efficient technology, allowing students to load more programs at a faster rate than before. This improved processing speed not only has alleviated time spent waiting for applications to load, but has quickened the pace of classroom activity.
Scott mentions that in some instances, the improved Chromebooks have allowed the class agenda to run more efficiently, freeing up time for unfinished assignments.
“[The chromebooks] make class faster and we don’t have to wait as long for the processing of a Gimkit or Presentation due to the newer parts inside the computer,” Scott said. “As a result, we cover more learning and sometimes get extra time to work on homework.”
Carroll shares a similar sentiment, acknowledging the quickened runtime.
“My favorite part about the new Chromebooks is their updated efficiency and quickness,” Carroll said. “My old Chromebook would often freeze up or have to reboot regularly, but with the new Chromebooks, I have not had any issues with it shutting down or taking an extended amount of time to load.”
