Slight changes coming in Homecoming Court voting this year

With a shorter amount of time and fewer candidates, this year’s voting process for Homecoming Court will include some slight changes from past years.

Ms. Angelia Ford said that this year there will be only one election for the Court. Winners will be announced at halftime on the field at the Homecoming football game, not ahead of time.

Elections will occur toward the latter end of Homecoming week, most likely in advisory on Thursday. Each student will get two votes; one for the winner in his or her class and one for the Homecoming Queen. If both of a student’s votes go to one candidate, then that candidate receives one vote, Ms. Ford said.

This year, there will be fewer candidates due to a lack of time caused by changes in the football schedule, making Homecoming much earlier. Twenty-one candidates will be on the ballot.

Each girl will have an adult escort, a family member or friend, on the field, Mrs. Ford said.
